Sri Krishna Sangeetha Sabha (SKSS) is one of the oldest and prestigious sabhas of Bengaluru. SKSS was founded by the legendary violin Maestro Ganakala Bhushana Vid. Sri Anoor S Ramakrishna in the year 1968.

It’s a great pleasure that our prestigious Sabha has entered the 50th year of serving Carnatic music. As part of the Annual General Body meeting held on 25-Jan-2018, the Sabha has decided to celebrate the Golden Jubilee festival.

The Golden Jubilee valedictory celebrations will be conducted in Bengaluru on Saturday 22nd December and Sunday 23rd December 2018.

As part of this festival year, we will be conducting 50 concerts starting from June 2018. Various eminent young and senior artists will be performing during this time.

SKSS for the last 50 years has been persistently serving Carnatic Music. Many renowned senior musicians and young artists have performed on this stage since then. It is every musician’s dream to perform under the banner of Sri Krishna Sangeetha Sabha knowing its high reputation and honour. As part of the audience, every program has had a cream of musicians, artists and music connoisseurs. This is the case even to date that the Sabha’s audience are highly musically oriented and appreciative of the music rendered. This environment has provided the musicians to present a highly enriched concert every time. The Sabha has also encouraged young and upcoming musicians to perform on stage and has brought out their talent.

The intent of this Sabha is to provide opportunities to the musicians who dwell in or hail from Karnataka state. This tradition continues till date.

Many veterans of the society such as Sri. C.V.L Shastry and D.V Narasinga Rao have served as Presidents of the Sabha in the past. Currently, the Sabha is headed by renowned percussionist of Karnataka, Mridanga’ Kala Shiromani Vidwan Sri A.V Anand. He has been heading the Sabha as the President from the past two decades.

Shri G.H Ramachandra Murthy served as the Honorary Secretary of SKSS for three decades from the time of its inception. He was then succeeded by Sri D.N Gurudutt, Sri Anoor S Mani (Subbanna) and Ganakalasri Anoor R Ananthakrishna Sharma. Currently Smt. H Vimala Mani is serving this position. The work done by them for the progress and enrichment of the Sabha is commendable.

Sri S. Srinivasan, Vidwan H.N Krishna, G Gundappa and S Gururaja Rao have served as Honorary Treasurers of SKSS. It is currently served by Layakala Prathibhamani Anoor R Dattathreya Sharma. The sincere services offered by the members of the executive committee of SKSS is highly appreciable.

Every year SKSS conducts music concerts, dance/musical features, sugama sangeetha and educative lecture demonstrations on music related aspects. A two-day long program is also scheduled in connection with Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations each year during December wherein the upcoming young musicians and veteran artists are given opportunities to perform during which. Senior artists are recognized and felicitated for their services in the field of music during this festival.

As you may be aware, conducting these concerts and the Golden Jubilee celebrations requires support of both members physically and financially. The Sabha has not reached out to either Government or other organizations for any financial support as it has been getting valuable continued support from members and well-wishers.
